Being The Best We Can Be

Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium Funding?
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to schools. The amount a school receives
depends on the number of pupils on roll who are or have been eligible for free school meals
in the past six years (FSM). Schools also receive funding for children of service personnel or
children who are looked after.
Schools can choose to spend the money in various ways in order to support those children
who are in receipt of the grant to achieve in school. We would really like all parents/ carers
of pupils in Kingfishers and Owls who are eligible to apply for the funding as it covers more
than the cost of your child’s free school meal.

Can you apply?
To qualify, your child must be in school and you must be in receipt of one of the following
benefits:

  •   Income support
  •  Income based Job Seekers Allowance
  •  Income related Employment and Support Allowance
  •  NASS support
  •  Guarantee element of State Pension
  •  Child Tax Credit, with an income of £16,190 or less where the household is not getting Working Tax Credit
  •  Working Tax Credit for the four weeks after employment ends
  •  Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get).

Applying for this funding not only ensures that your child receives free school meals whilst you are in receipt of the benefits, but the grant will continue supporting your child in school for a further 6 years, even if your circumstances change.
